Construction boards with a raised relief are a basic building material of model landscape. They cover a continuous area of a building or of a terrain structure in one step and save the work that creating the texture by hand would mean. They are used where an area is in full view and has to carry a legible texture even after it has been painted.
The package holds two boards measuring 28 x 14 centimeters. The relief is prepared for H0 and TT scales, that is 1:87 and 1:120. The length of a board corresponds in H0 scale to roughly twenty-four meters of a real building, and in TT to about thirty-three meters. A pair of boards will therefore do even for a larger area, and material will be left over during building for accessories and repairs.
Lay the boards out on the area before you reach for the glue, so that the texture carries over the joint. The transition between two boards is best hidden behind an upright part of the building, behind greenery or in shadow. Paint in thin coats: an overall base tone, then a darker glaze once it has dried, which will run into the hollows of the relief, and a dry brush on the raised edges at the end. Small differences of shade across the area are welcome, because a uniform color flattens the relief to the eye. The way of dividing and fixing them follows the manufacturer's instructions.
The boards will be appreciated by builders of layouts and dioramas who need to cover a larger area with texture quickly and then fine-tune it with their own painting.
The boards are supplied on their own. The paints, the glue and other kit parts are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
