A pair of Dur construction boards with a raised relief of a sandstone retaining wall, each measuring 28 x 14 cm, for H0 and TT scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A retaining wall holds a slope where a line or a road would otherwise not fit, which is why it belongs to every cutting, every embankment and every edge of a station area on a slope. On a model it has a practical job as well: it hides the transition between the level of the layout and rising terrain, which tends to be the hardest place in a scene to manage. These boards of the Dur line from the Heki company carry a raised relief of the sandstone masonry of such a wall.
The package holds two pieces, each measuring 28 x 14 cm. The boards are intended for H0 and TT scales, that is for the ratios 1:87 and 1:120. In H0 scale the longer side corresponds to roughly 24 meters of real length, in TT to just under 34 meters, so the pair will give a continuous wall along a longer stretch of line.
Lay the wall out dry and run the joint of the two boards where a bush, a flight of steps or an edge of the terrain will cover it. Fix them to the base according to the manufacturer's instructions. Sandstone holds a warm tone, so do not start with a cold gray: lay an ocher base, work a darker glaze into the joints and draw the edges of the blocks out lighter with a dry brush. At the top, under the crown of the wall, suggest the marks of running water, and at the foot wind-blown soil with tufts of grass.
The boards will be used by builders of layouts and dioramas in H0 and TT scale who need to shore up a slope above a line or a road, or to face a ramp or a base course. The paints, the glue and other building material are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
