A country furnace for a diorama in 1:35 scale. According to the name it is made of gypsum and complemented with photo-etch.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masonry country furnace was for centuries the center of the living part of a village house in central and eastern Europe. It served for baking, for heating water and for warming the house, and its massive body took up a substantial part of the room. In a scene with military equipment or with infantry it therefore establishes the setting at once: the interior of a dwelling, a damaged house or a ruin of which only the furnace with its chimney has been left standing.
According to the name the basis is a gypsum casting complemented with photo-etch. Gypsum carries the three-dimensional texture of masonry and rough plaster well, while photo-etch adds thin metal parts that could not be drawn out to the necessary fineness in gypsum.
Gypsum is porous and absorbs thinner and pigment unevenly, so seal the surface with a base coat first and only then shade it. Shades of clay and lime come out well with a dry brush and glazes. Degrease the photo-etched parts before gluing and join them with super glue. Soot around the mouth of the furnace is most easily created with a black pigment applied dry.
The set is intended for builders of dioramas who want to add a civilian setting to a scene without the tedious work of scribing masonry. Figures, paints, glue and a diorama base are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
