An accessory set of parts for showing the restraints of the folded main rotor blades of the Sea King helicopter in 1:48 scale, built for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea King is a large twin-engine helicopter that serves in the anti-submarine, transport and rescue roles. For operating from ships' decks it has folding main rotor blades; once folded, the blades swing back along the fuselage and are secured against movement. It is precisely these securing fittings that tend to be only suggested on kits, or missing altogether, and yet they are one of the details everyone notices on a parked machine.
The set brings the parts to assemble the restraint system for the folded main rotor blades in 1:48 scale. It is built for the Airfix Sea King kit, so it follows its shapes and calls for no major work on the plastic. You will use it above all when you want to build the model with the rotor folded, that is, the way the helicopter looks parked on a deck or in a hangar.
The parts are not polystyrene, so do not glue them with modeling cement for plastic; cyanoacrylate glue holds them, with an activator on larger faces. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest away carefully, so as not to damage the shape. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold and will peel off while you handle them. The exact assembly procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Because these are small and delicate items, get tweezers, a sharp blade and good lighting ready.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
