1:700 USS New York (LPD-21) is a plastic kit of the American amphibious transport dock of the San Antonio class in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern American amphibious transport dock in 1:700 scale. The hull is made as a single piece with a separate bulbous bow; the kit is full hull and does not offer a waterline variant. The flight deck, the hangar and the well deck are detailed, and the ship comes with generous equipment: LCAC hovercraft, an LCU boat, AAV-7 amphibious vehicles and CH-46E, CH-53E, MV-22, AH-1W and UH-1N aircraft.
The USS New York is the fifth unit of the San Antonio class, that is the modern amphibious transport docks with their characteristic enclosed masts and angular superstructure outlines that reduce radar reflectivity. The ship is known above all because steel from the wreckage of the New York World Trade Center was worked into her bow, and the name as well as the commissioning ceremony in 2009 in New York itself follow on from that. The task of the class is to carry and land Marine Corps units together with their equipment.
As the model is full hull, count on a stand or a base. It is a good idea to spray the enclosed masts and the angular surfaces of the superstructure before you fit the small details, so that the edges stay clean. Paint the interior of the well deck and the hangar before they are closed. Finish the small equipment separately and fit it at the end, otherwise it breaks off while the hull is handled.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
