A Mr.Color modeling paint in the RLM 66 shade, the German black-gray for cockpit interiors. A 10 ml bottle with a semi-matte finish.
Responsibility details are not available.
RLM 66 Schwarzgrau is a dark black-gray that was used in the Luftwaffe to paint cockpit interiors. From the early 1940s it replaced the lighter earlier shade in cockpits, so on builds of later machines such as late versions of the Bf 109, the Fw 190 or night fighters, this is the shade that belongs in the cockpit. It was also used on instrument panels, canopy frames and small internal equipment.
The paint is thinned with the thinner of the same range, for the airbrush in a ratio of roughly one part paint to one or two parts thinner, and is laid down in two or three thin coats. It can also be applied with a brush, which is useful on interior parts. It dries quickly, holds well on plastic and once dry has a semi-matte finish that looks neither dead matte nor inappropriately glossy in a cockpit.
Paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage and remember that a dark shade absorbs light in a small space, so it is worth pulling the details out with drybrushing or a lighter mist from above. Leave the instruments and levers until last. Paint the canopy frame and the inner faces of the doors in the same shade as the cockpit, otherwise the whole will not hold together. Stir the bottle thoroughly before every use and leave it open only while you work, or the paint in it will thicken.
The package holds one bottle of paint with a volume of 10 ml. Thinner, a brush, clear coats and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
