Straw gray to the British standard BS 4800/18B21. A lacquer paint of 10 ml in a muted beige-gray shade.
Responsibility details are not available.
The BS 4800 standard describes shades originally intended for industrial and building finishes, not for aviation. Modelers use it where they need to match the color of ground structures, airfield equipment, containers or vehicles whose coloring came from civil regulations. This shade is a muted beige with a gray cast.
The basis of the paint is a lacquer on an organic solvent, so it cannot be thinned with water. It can be thinned only with the thinner of the same brand, up to roughly twice the volume of the paint. The bottle holds ten milliliters and the cured surface is firm and takes further work.
Unassuming colors easily merge into a single area on a model if you use too many of them side by side. It pays to alternate them with more pronounced tones or to set them apart by degree of sheen, because contrast in sheen works even where contrast in color is missing.
For buildings in a diorama it pays to vary the shade slightly between the individual surfaces before applying it. A building with absolutely uniform color on every wall looks like a model, not like an object exposed to the weather.
