HELLGRAU – LIGHT GREY RAL 7009 (INTERIOR COLOR)

The color

A light gray tone listed in the name as Hellgrau and marked with the number RAL 7009. The RAL system is a German standard in which a shade is described by a four-digit number and the first digit places the tone in a color group. Seven belongs to the gray shades, so the number alone tells you which family the paint falls into. The addition in the name makes it clear that this is a shade meant for interior surfaces.

What it is suited to

Light interior shades are rewarding on a model, because there is little light in enclosed spaces and a dark color would swallow the detail. Over a light base, on the other hand, shading and edge highlighting come out well and small equipment can be seen even through a small opening. A number from a standard is also practical in that build instructions and color profiles refer to it, so you do not have to guess the tone from a photograph.

Usage tips

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before the work, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply it in several thin coats; one heavy coat floods the engraving and the rivets.
• Use the thinner the manufacturer specifies for this range.
• The thinning ratio for spraying as well as for a brush is given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
• Paint the interior before you glue the fuselage together, as you will not get into it later.

What the delivery contains

The bottle of paint alone is supplied. The thinner, brushes and varnishes are not part of the delivery unless stated otherwise. The volume of the package and the recommended thinner can be found in the manufacturer's data on the packaging.
