A Tamiya modeling paint from the LP range in a pearl blue shade, designated LP-47 Pearl Blue.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pearl blue is a shade with a fine sparkle that changes its depth according to how the light falls on the surface and the angle you look at the model from. It comes into use above all where a surface is meant to look like lacquered bodywork: car models, motorcycles, helmets and accessories, but also science-fiction builds and figures where a more brilliant surface suits. A layer of pearl tends to be semi-transparent, so the base color also takes part in the result; over a dark base the shade comes out deeper and richer, over a light one brighter.
The foundation is a smooth surface: neither pearl nor a gloss finish can hide scratches and gaps, and will rather emphasize them. So sand, wash and degrease the area and apply an even base. Stir the paint thoroughly before use and apply it in thin coats, letting each one set in between; a heavy coat all at once tends to run and the sparkle in it stays uneven. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging, so follow those instructions. Test the shade on an offcut over the same base you will use on the model.
For builders of car models and motorcycles who want lacquered bodywork with a sparkle, and for anyone looking for a more brilliant shade outside the usual military palette. The paint is not tied to one scale.
Thinner, varnish, brushes and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
