The Mi-24 is a heavy attack helicopter with stub wings and two cockpits set one behind the other, with the rear pilot station higher than the front one. Behind them is a compartment for the troops carried, which makes the machine combine the roles of a gunship and a transport helicopter. This set focuses on the interior of the Mi-24P version.
Color three-dimensional interior elements in 1:72 scale. The instruments, the labels and the layout of the panels are printed in color at the factory, the part has relief of its own and replaces the flat decal supplied with the kit. In a small scale that help is felt most, because painting dials the size of a pinhead by hand is an evening's work. The range of parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions, which are worth going through before building the cockpits.
The QD range is applied like a conventional decal. Cut the part from the sheet, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place, as it has no adhesive layer of its own. The surface under the part should be degreased, painted and coated with a gloss varnish of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type. In 1:72 scale it pays to work with sharp tweezers and under a magnifier, as the parts are small, and on uneven places a drop of super glue will pull them down. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin.
The set suits a model built with the doors open or the covers slid back, where the cockpits can be seen. Check the compatibility with a specific kit in the manufacturer's instructions. The helicopter, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
