Metallic Details 1:700 naval gun of 152 mm caliber, Type 41, with a barrel length of 40 calibers is a set of fourteen pieces of replacement gun barrels and parts for ship models. It is a detailing accessory, not a kit of a ship.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of replacement parts for the armament of ship models in 1:700 scale. The package contains fourteen pieces and combines metal barrels with resin and photo-etched parts. The real subject is a naval gun of 152 mm caliber with a barrel length of forty calibers, designated Type 41, which served as part of the secondary armament of Japanese warships. The set is intended to be exchanged for the molded plastic barrels that in this scale necessarily come out too thick and without an opening in the muzzle.
The barrels are the most conspicuous place on a model of a ship where the scale shows. A turned metal part has a properly slender diameter, a crisp transition of shapes and a drilled muzzle, which cannot be achieved with a molding. Fourteen pieces in the package correspond to the number of casemate and deck mountings that ships with this secondary armament carried, so it is enough to fit out one model completely. The additional resin and photo-etched parts make it possible to finish off the surroundings of the mounting, not just the barrel itself.
Cut the plastic barrel off with a saw as close to the base as possible and level the surface with a file, so that the new barrel seats on the axis. The metal part is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and the joint can be strengthened with a drop of thicker gel for safety. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a metal primer. Choose the paint according to the standard coat of the ship. Lightly dry-brushed edges and a weak dark wash accent the shape of the barrel, and the metallic sheen in the muzzle is left only suggested.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model of the ship itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
