An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy M1931 (B-4) 203 mm howitzer in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. It is a modern new mold with a well detailed barrel, carriage and the characteristic tracked mounting on which this exceptionally heavy gun was moved. The box is usually completed by photo-etched parts for fine detail.
The B-4 was a Soviet heavy 203 mm howitzer introduced in the early 1930s. Because of its enormous weight it was set on a tracked mounting, which let it move even over difficult ground. It first saw combat in the Soviet-Finnish war, destroying concrete fortifications, where it earned the nickname Stalin's sledgehammer. It could deliver shells weighing more than a hundred kilograms to a range of almost twenty kilometers and became the terror of fortified positions.
On an artillery model, give attention to the carriage and the barrel mechanism, which are clearly visible. Finish and paint the tracked mounting separately; weathering is easier then. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic with thin modeling cement. Apply a primer before painting, lay the Soviet green scheme down with an airbrush and bring the whole to life with washes in the recesses, dust pigments and mud effects on the tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
