A resin set of the undernose pod, the so-called chin pod, for the carrier-based fighter F-14A/B Tomcat in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail set that replaces the simplified plastic part with an accurate casting. This version corresponds to the configuration with the electro-optical camera system and electronic warfare equipment under the nose of the aircraft. The manufacturer is the Quickboost range of the Czech studio Aires.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American two-seat carrier-based fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, for many years the main defensive fighter of the US Navy. Under the nose it carried, in various periods, a pod with sensors - a television camera system for identifying targets at a distance and electronic warfare equipment. It was precisely the shape and the fit of this pod that differed from machine to machine.
Wash the parts free of the release agent, separate them from the casting block and clean up the mating face. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding resin. Before gluing, try the pod dry on the underside of the nose and adjust the mating surface if needed.
The set does not contain the aircraft model itself; it serves as an accessory to a matching kit. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
