The Messerschmitt Me 410 was a German twin-engine combat aircraft of the Second World War with a crew of two. It grew out of a reworking of the unsuccessful Me 210 and was used both as a heavy fighter and as a fast bomber. The pilot and the radio operator sat one behind the other under a long glazing, so the inside of the cockpit is visible along its whole length on the finished model. That makes the interior one of the most conspicuous parts of the build on this type.
The set brings colored three-dimensional elements printed on decal backing paper, with a raised relief. They replace hand-painting of the instrument panel, the side walls and the consoles, and they add the instrument markings that cannot be drawn with a brush in 1:48 scale. The elements are shaped to the parts of the Meng kit.
Quinta Studio elements of the QD range are applied the wet way. Cut the part from the sheet, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place. The part has no adhesive layer of its own, so paint the surface first, let it dry and go over it with a gloss varnish of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type. Do not use a decal softener or a decal setting solution, because the chemistry would attack the printed resin. Place the elements with tweezers, blot the excess water away and press them into the corners of the panel with a cotton swab. On the long cockpit work from front to back, and test-fit the finished interior dry before you glue the fuselage together.
The set is meant for a modeler who is building the Me 410 with the cockpit open and wants the interior finished without the lengthy painting of tiny instruments. The package contains the interior elements; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
