A matte black from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive, listed under number 9005 of the European RAL standard and under the name Tiefschwarz, that is deep black. The standard is a great advantage here: the shade is not guessed from an old photograph but recorded by a number, so you can come back to it at any time and finish work in progress in the same tone. The bottle volume is 17 ml.
On small parts, in the gaps, on the areas of an engine compartment and everywhere real darkness is wanted. On large areas, on the other hand, caution is in order: pure black in scale looks like a hole with no shape, because it swallows all the highlights that would be visible on a real machine. Modelers therefore usually brighten it on large areas and leave the pure shade only in the deepest places.
Shake the bottle properly before use, because the pigment settles at the bottom. Thin the paint with the product the manufacturer recommends for this range, not automatically with water. Spray in several thin coats; black covers well, so a heavy coat only floods the engraving needlessly. Wash and degrease the model before painting, because on a matte black every fingerprint is conspicuous. During further work, therefore, hold the model by its base or in gloves.
