A set of tracks in resin for models of the Pz.Kpfw 38(t) light tank in 1:16 scale. It is an accessory, not a tank kit. Against the big German machines the 38(t) is small and its track is narrower and finer, which makes the quality of the casting all the more visible in 1:16 scale, because you are looking closely at a small but sharply shaped part.
The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) grew out of a prewar Czechoslovak light tank which, after the occupation of the country, entered German service and stayed in production afterward. It was reliable, simple and, with its large road wheels and leaf-spring suspension, easy to recognize. Its chassis proved so viable that it served as the basis of a whole family of derived machines. The late form of the track matches a later phase of production, so when building a particular machine it makes sense to compare the type of track with a period photograph.
Smaller links mean finer work: tweezers, a really sharp knife and a steady hand come in useful, because the thin parts can break off easily. Wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces down (with respiratory protection). It is glued with super glue; apply it drop by drop, so that it does not run into the relief. Try the assembled track dry around the drive sprocket and the idler first. Painting is managed with a dark steel or brownish base; lighten the fine edges with a metallic pigment and dust the lower part of the running gear with dry pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
