A resin headrest for the Reggiane Re 2000 in 1:48 scale from the Czech firm CMK. A detail in the cockpit that is the first thing visible through the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory from the Czech maker CMK for the Italian Reggiane Re 2000 fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the headrest behind the pilot's seat. It is a small part, but it lies exactly in the line of sight through the canopy, so a viewer will see it before anything else inside. The casting has crisper edges and a better shape to the padding than plastic offers.
A headrest was one of the features protecting the pilot on a fighter. Besides comfort on a longer flight it also had a practical role during violent maneuvers and on landing. Its shape and design differed between types and even between production batches, so it is one of the details by which someone who knows the type can tell which version of a machine is meant.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and true the surface. Bond it with super glue, ideally applied with a pin, so that the glue does not run onto visible areas. Paint the padding in a leather shade, pick the edges out with a dry brush and apply a dark wash in the seams. Distinguish the metal frame with a darker tone.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
