The plastic kit Tamiya 1:350 Tone captures the Japanese heavy cruiser with its unconventional arrangement of gun turrets and an aircraft deck at the stern.
Responsibility details are not available.
A newly developed injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Tone in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Tamiya. The model can be built as a waterline or as a full-hull version; the package contains photo-etched parts and further elements for a faithful rendering of this characteristic ship, with its main armament concentrated forward and an extensive aircraft deck aft.
The Tone was a Japanese heavy cruiser of the Second World War and the lead ship of her class. She was marked out by an unusual arrangement in which all the main gun turrets were placed ahead of the superstructure and the stern served as an extensive aircraft deck for reconnaissance floatplanes. Thanks to her long range and her aviation equipment, the Tone was used as a reconnaissance and escort ship for task forces. She was committed in a number of operations in the Pacific.
Decide in advance between the waterline and the full-hull version. Attach the fine parts of the armament and the photo-etched elements with super glue and fit them only at the end. Spray the hull and the decks with an airbrush, set the wooden areas of the deck apart with a suitable shade and bring the plank lines out with a wash. Even the surface out with a flat varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
